Wendy loves to provide professional consultation to other therapist looking to expand their private or group practice. With over ten years experience running two sites as well as supervising and mentoring numerous professionals since 2008, Wendy is always happy to help, be it just one time or on a continuous basis to provide support where it is best needed.
Wendy began her journey of owning her solo practice in 2008, and quickly found that she had a desire to build a team of collaborative therapists to work "as a system for the system". Wendy co-founded LifeSong Counseling Centers in 2010, building it from a two office suite with two interns to three sites with up to thirteen therapists. Wendy expanded her sites to include another solo practice in North Carolina, to move closer to her adult daughter, and has since supported her therapist in Arizona to branch out on their own.
Wendy's experience serving on the AZ Board of Behavioral Health, as well as starting the first cohort of Marriage and Family Therapist as the Associate Clinical Director at Fuller Theological Seminary, has given her a unique perspective on ethics, practical application and balance. Although Wendy has discontinued teaching at Fuller since she moved to North Carolina, Wendy continues to teach, supervise and mentor by contracting with sites that desire to train staff on specific models or skills. Some the the skill building techniques Wendy specializes in are Boundary Exercises, Empty Chair, Mindfulness, Sitting with the Silence, Self of Therapist awareness, Countertransference, Parts work, Here and Now processing, and more.
Whether asking questions on how to run a successful solo or group practice, case consult, or building skills, Wendy welcomes whatever is needed to help you grow as a clinician and business owner. Wendy often references that one of her greatest joys has been to see the professionals she mentored/supervised build strong teams of their own.
